Send us your short films that tell "Stories from the Seaside"

The traveling short film festival Moviemiento is now launching its call for creative shorts from all countries bordering the Baltic Sea.

Send us your short films that tell "Stories from the Seaside"

In the summer of 2008, Moviemiento will be parting from the road and taking to the seas for the first time, setting sail in Rostock and traveling by ship to Danzig, Kaliningrad, Riga and Narva-Jõesuu and all the way to St. Petersburg. Under the name MOVING BALTIC SEA, a four-day festival with film and environmental workshops will take place in the above mentioned port towns. The highlight of the festival activities is the open-air screening of the short film program, which will have been previously selected by an international jury in Berlin. The audience chooses the winning film, which will be awarded a license contract by the channel ARTE Deutschland.

The deadline for submissions is April 1st, 2008. For more information and entryform, please see www.movingbalticsea.org -under "taking part"

Moving Baltic Sea - Kick Off Conference

From the 27th till the 30th of September, all partners from the cultural and environmental festival 'Moving Baltic Sea' got together for the first time! In the beautiful Castle of Wartin, in the North-East of Germany, we had a productive and inspiring Kick Off Conference. Our main goals were to finally get to know each other and further develop the festival content, which we successfully achieved!

After three days filled with discussion, brainstorming, exchange of ideas, background and culture, we all look forward to continuing work on our project together. The next steps will be taken from the respectative cities: Berlin, Rostock, Danzig, Kaliningrad, Riga, Narva-Jõesuu and St. Petersburg. For more information on the project and all partners, see: www.movingbalticsea.org

'Moving Baltic Sea' currently is Moviemiento’s main project and will take place in the summer of 2008.

10th of August till the 8th of September

What is Heimat? What does it mean to feel at home? How do we find security and cosiness in a globalized world?

Temporary Home searches the answers to these fundamental questions. In the meanwhile, we create a self-made Heimat in the busy world of art during the Documenta XII. Besides a relaxing spot where you can feel at ease, Temporary Home will offer a wide range of art exhibition, theatre plays, concerts, parties, accommodation and off course films related to the topic of Heimat. Laboresk e.V. and Moviemiento found a big space in the city centre of Kassel, close to the KulturBahnhof (Werner Hilpert Str. 10-14).

Keep in touch with your favourite film festival and visit us at the Documenta XII. For more information please check www.temporaryhome.org.

All hands on deck! – Moving Baltic Sea

From now on up to 2008 Moviemiento will be part of the European environmental and film festival Moving Baltic Sea, that takes Moviemiento off the roads and for the first time onto the seas!

Networking with partner organizations in five Baltic countries - Germany, Poland, Russia, Latvia and Estonia - we are organizing a three-month-tour on a sailing boat with four-day-festivals in harbour cities of each country. In conjunction with short film festivals and 48-hours-film-contest, there will be workshops on environmental issues and on creative writing, and debates with local media and politics concerning strategies for cultural and environmental co-operation.
